Exploring NYC on a budget is easier than most people think. Over the Fourth of July weekend, I spent two days in New York City as a student. Here is exactly how I did it.
Getting to NYC on a Budget: FlixBus from Richmond
First, I skipped flying and took a FlixBus from Richmond. The ride was affordable and comfortable. Best of all, it dropped me right in the city. For students, bus travel is one of the smartest ways to save money.
Where I Stayed
Next, I booked a bed at the Central Park West Hostel. Hostels work perfectly for solo travelers. They cost less than hotels, and they make it easy to meet people from around the world.
Day 1: Brooklyn, Downtown, and Fireworks
I started my morning in DUMBO, one of the most photographed spots in the city. Then, I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge into the Financial District. Walking costs nothing, and it lets you see the architecture up close. Did explore place around One world trade center and the wall street. That night, I watched the Fourth of July fireworks. The view of the skyline was unforgettable.
Day 2: Central Park and City Views
On my second day, I did wander around the streets of Manhattan. Since, it was during the world cup, I did enter Hardrock cafe and attended a live football screaming and really enjoyed them. Had to try of some famous food spots like Joe’s Pizza, magnolia bakery and the famous Bagels is Nyc. Finally, I ended the trip under the bright lights of Times Square.
